So I had a meeting at the High Plains Reader yesterday because I am going to start doing some writing for them. (Music and other things etc.) Anyway, they are reformating their paper and are making it larger and want to start focusing on the all ages scene more in their articles, reviews, and Best Bets section. A lot of the time it is mostly the 21+ older and bar crowd shows that really get talked about and those touring bands that really get interviewed and mentioned. I like some of the bands, but it becomes elitist and not as open at times. But since I am only one person a lot of the articles and other things that I am required to write, after a few weeks the load would probably burn me or anyone else out. So they want other people within the all ages scene to help out with writing etc as well. It is going to focus on all styles of music and not just put interviews and cd reviews with their friends' bands. There are a lot of people on here and that I know who listen to a lot of different styles of music and know a lot about different kinds of music. I for one do not listen to a lot of hardcore so it would be good to have someone who does and is involved with the hardcore scene more, since it is a large part of the all ages scene. This is a good chance to really show a good selection of different genres of music being featured in the HPR and to help expose the all ages scene to let more people know theres other shows than just 21+ ones going on.
The HPR music section has been sucking lately so if you feel you can do better and have cool ideas here is your chance. Or if you just really are interested in writing. But please only people who are going to be serious about it and take the time and effort to do it. You can get a hold of me or contact the HPR at hpr@hpr1.com and just tell them you'd like to be involved. I was going to start with an article about the Dec. 4th and Dec. 7th shows, but since that is only a week away and I will be out of town until Sunday it is not feasible to do which sucks because they will be cool shows. But this allows more time to get things ready. They are also looking for writers in the Tech/Video Games area as well if you are interested with that. Thanks for your time.
