Meh. Weezer has been on my shit list since they did that crappy Pixies cover. Can't forgive them for it.

It is a step up from Make Believe, I still don't really like the production on this album very much. The lyrics are pretty dumb though and not in a good way of old Weezer where they were dumb in a funny, pathetic kind of way. Its alright, but they will never be anything without Matt Sharp.

I will never, ever outright dismiss Weezer. As disappointing as "Make Believe" was, they made 2 of the best albums ever. So, I guess I am just hoping against hope that they will make at least a good album.... Anyway, this song is definitely better than that "beverly hills" shit.

I like it, Make believe was just a pile of crap and didn't really have that Weezer feel to it. Rivers Cuomo also stated in an interview that this would be a more type of experiment album too. But not bad from this first song. I will probly pick up this album.

Thats why they wont be as good as they once were because Matt Sharp was the true genius behind their first 2 albums. If you notice there are no bad Rentals albums. Those actually sound much closer to early Weezer too.

Wow, I love Weezer, minus some newer shit. Pinkerton is the shit as well, and of course their magnum opus, blue album.
I am just happy they're back to the color coded albums, a good sign of a return back to better material?
Idk, we'll see. I can't judge just off this single, usually the singles are the worst if you ask me.

Well, the majority of this album leaked, and HOLY FUCKING SHIT is it terrible.
I hope it's some kind of hoax, but I'm pretty sure it's not.

i think it's maybe a bit better (at least more interesting) than make believe but boy is it a huge shitfest still. Track by track rundown (i'm high):
1. Troublemaker - could be cool, horrendous lyrics 2. "The Greatest Man That Ever Lived (Variations on a Shaker Hymn)" - what in the fuck?! this has to be one of the dumbest and worst songs i've ever fucking heard in my life. it's downright hilarious. i'd listen to it again in an r. kelly trapped in the closet sort of way. listen to this song. it's a clusterfuck of like 12 diferent songs, they sound like weird al style parodies. there's a glimpse of a cool song when they go to the synth part but it was like rivers forgot how to write a verse and just included it in a medley. then comes the spoken word narrative that sounds like it was taken from varsity blues. then comes the church choir. then it's back to the cool blue album ripoff part. this shit is downright schizophrenic and scary. 3. Pork and Beans - could be cool but really terrible lyrics. 4. Heart Songs - sounds like a song by Brandy complete with autotune vocals. He just names records and artists that influenced him or something. It is fucking retarded. Once again, it's probably laughable. If "We Didn't Start the Fire" gang raped "The Boy Is Mine" that's what this song would sound like. But once again, that last build-up shows glimpses of what could be good if the dude would give up this meditation shit and regain some focus. 5. Everybody Get Dangerous - kinda rockin until one of the gayest choruses ever occurs. it sounds like a band you'd see comprised of 13 year olds in a disney channel original movie. 6. Dreamin' - isn't horrible, some lyrical shit that's lame but still really long and they do stupid vocal throwback shit and then come back into the proud mary riff and make you bored again. Then the barbershop quartet shit starts. Less talk more rock please. 7. Thought I Knew - lame Brian Bell song but it's not as bad as Rivers' contributions for the most part. Kind of an Elvis Costello ripoff especially in the chorus. 8. Cold Dark World - Hilarious Scott Shriner song!!!!! Most masculine Weezer track ever. The vocals sound like "The Touch" from Boogie Nights. Like exactly.
couldn't find these two, don't give a fuck if i ever hear them or not. 9. Automatic - 10. The Angel and the One -

Kasey, that review is amazing. Your review of track 2 actually makes me think that could be the greatest song ever, sorry.

nope. he's right. it's terrible.
Maladroit was the last decent album and there's some filler on that record too, although Burndt Jamb is the shiznit.
