I mean, let's be fair, the Christians (being the perennial idea-thieves they are) just stole the concept from the Jews they split off from. you are correct in one point. the Christians did change it to sunday. the reason they changed it though was to appease to more of the "tribal" populations who worshiped their god on that day. so naturally they change it up to get the numbers up in their religion.
